“The space between the tears we cry is the laughter that keeps us coming back for more” - Dave Matthews Band.
I think I have written a years worth of posts tonight….and deleted every single one of them. The truth is, I don’t know what to say. I can’t seem to put into words what is weighing on my heart. I can’t find the perfect song, I don’t have some quote from a movie or book. All I have is a line from Dave Matthews of all people. That’s it.
Yet that one quote seems to capture more than I can say. Several of those near and dear to my heart are walking through a storm. I want you to know that I am sharing “the tears we cry”. I’m in this journey with each and every one of you and wouldn’t have it any other way. We have shared the laughs that keep us coming back for more. Now we will walk these roads and wherever this journey may lead us. For it is through this journey that we will return to the laughter.
And I know you would do it for me.

It seems to me that “the space between” should only be the space in terms of terrain, mileage, etc. For us, it should never amount to any more than that. We are supposed to be bonded by The One that brought us together in the first place. Thank God you didn’t delete this one! Great stuff!!

Dave Matthews (like him or not) is a lyrical genius. The “space between” is a place that we have all found ourselves in at one time or another. It’s hard to remember that God is in that space with you, but he is.
I’m praying for you Aaron while you wander through that space.

Glad you kept this one. When my brother died and,my mother had terminal cancer I felt that space. I told a family friend while crying and laughing, “I don’t even know what to pray!! That night I found this verse, “Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”

I with you in my spirit Aaron, as I am going through the same thing. Some seasons we walk in the shadows with those we love, sometimes it feels like we walk alone, and yet we never are for Jesus is always with us… whether we feel His presence or not, He is always there.
May the Lord bless and encourage your heart, and those whom you love, He is eveer ans always faithful.
