I didn’t even know that! I worked in retail for a short time once and I just guessed it was because all the people in the store hated working that day. It was always a train wreck and no fun to be there. Thanks for the 4-1-1 Troy!

I guess I should of added, it’s kind of is an assumption or a theory, and really isn’t the case with most companies, but that is were the name came from.

It’s black Friday because it is when many retail stores first make a profit for the year. Black as in Profit, verse red as debt.

My friend has disappeared to New York for Black Friday. Something she does every year. I asked her why it’s called “Black” friday. She had no clue. I’ve never been shopping in the States, yes that’s right - there is one Canadian who’s never been south of the border to shop. Do you know where the Black Friday tag comes from? I’m so curious.

Great ideas! We weren’t home this morning so we taped the parade and watched it this evening once we got home. It was three hours long and it took us 52 minutes to watch the parts we were interested in and fast forward the rest! You’re right - there were WAY too many commercials!
