My All Pro Dad Notes

February 29th, 2008

Want a sneak peak at my notes for tomorrows topic of “Your Relationship with Your Dad”? Here’s a glimpse:

I thank you for the music and your stories of the road
I thank you for the freedom when it came my time to go
I thank you for the kindness and the times when you got tough
And “Papa” I don’t think I said I love you near enough.
-Dan Folgelberg (The Leader of The Band)

I wasn’t there the morning
when my father passed away.
I didn’t get to tell him
all the things I had to say
I think I caught his spirit
later that same year
I’m sure I heard his echo
in my new born babies tears
I just wish I could have told him
In the living years.
-Mike and the Mechanics (The Living Years)

I will treasure the heart
and the finer things within it
And I know as he would have it
I will lay aside the bad
Of all the things that I could still become
I could do a whole lot worse
Than turning into Dad.
-Wayne Watson (Turning into Dad)

I’m gonna wrap my arms around my Daddy’s neck
and tell him that I’ve missed him
Tell him all about the man that I became
and hope that it pleased him
There’s so much I want to say
There’s so much I wanted you to know
When I finally make it home.
-MercyMe (Finally Home)

Ha-Ha..Those aren’t music notes. Believe me…you don’t want to hear me sing any of those. I can’t get through listening to half of these songs let alone sing them. Here’s hoping I can just get through reading them.

    See you in the morning!
