Completely Unexpected!

October 13, 2008 — 5 Comments

A little over a year ago, I had a day that will forever remain in my memory. If you were to ask me for a short list of people I would like to spend the day talking with, Max Lucado would certainly be near the top of that list. Some of you may remember that last year, my family and I had the absolute blessing of spending a few minutes with Max and his lovely wife Denalyn. He even took some time to love on the kids which made him even cooler in my book. There are few authors that have inspired me more, and challenged my faith more than one Max Lucado.

To my surprise last week, I received an email from Thomas Nelson Publishing asking if I would be interested in reviewing the new book from Max Lucado entitled “Cast of Characters“. It took me all of about 2 seconds to reply. It turns out that the first 5 people to respond the quickest were sent a copy of the book signed by Max. When I returned from my trip last week, on my desk was my copy of “Cast of Characters” with the signature of Max on page one.

They have asked that we read the book and post a review in the next 30 days. Since I have a pending trip and cannot wait to read this, I should have something posted in the next week or so. It looks like a great book highlighting the “Common People in the Hands of an Uncommon God” of the Bible. Cannot wait. Special thanks to my new friends at Thomas Nelson Publishing and Max Lucado for making this opportunity available. While it was completely unexpected, it is most certaily appreciated.

  2. Wow! How cool is that?!
What a privilege… let us know what you think when you’re done!
I was pleased to get to hear him speak at Women of Faith this week. He has such a ‘common’ type talk, but it really struck deep w/ me. And he offered very sweet prayers at the end of his time there. Very genuine.
    Enjoy your book!

  3. Always good to hear that high profile people really do live out their Christianity.

  4. Very cool!! Can’t wait to hear about it!!
