A few years ago I used to post my notes from the service on Sunday morning. In response, others would share what they heard/taught at their church. I got to thinking about that this week and how it was one of the more interactive parts of this blog. As we continue to answer “what’s next” in being in Ohio, it would seem that getting back to the Sunday Sermon Notes posts would be a good place to start.
These come from week 2 in the “You’ve Been Waiting Your Entire Life For This” series.
Topic: Faith/Live Hard.
Scripture: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Heb 11:10)
- The most important thing about me is what comes to mind when I think of about God.
- One thing I should know about God is that God loves impossible odds.
- Uncertainty is a prime breeding ground for faith
- God wants to get me where God wants me to be more than I want to get to where God wants me to be.
- Three words separate Jonathan from his father, King Saul: “Come, let’s go!”
- When God makes a promise there is absolutely nothing that can keep God from coming through on what He’s promised. Odds are irrelevant to God.
- To sieze divine moments we must accept that we have no control over many things and learn to embrace the uncertainty of life.
- Faith is trusting in the goodness of God regardless of circumstances.
- The greater the opportunity in life, the greater the risk that is required.
- The most paralyzing mistake we can make is thinking that our problems somehow disqualify us from being used by God.
Other scripture references: 2 Sam 23:20-21; Is 55:8-9; Jer 1:5; 29:11; 1 Sam 14; Rom 8:28; Phil 1:29
My scribbles
- How big is your God picture?
- Faith is an expression of my belief in God
- How we explain our circumstances is more important than the circumstances
- The invisible God makes himself visible when we reveal ourselves
What did they preach where you went to church on Sunday?
