Before I get to this weeks “Sermon Notes”, I have to share how our service started. The Worship team played through one song and then a video came on. It was a gentleman explaining how he came to Rock City Church. He then compared it to meeting his girlfriend for the first time. At the end of the video he said “if you’ll meet me down front, I have something important to ask you”. She did and he asked her to marry him. She said “yes”. The first proposal at Rock City Church. Series: “You’ve Been Waiting Your Entire Life For This”
Verse: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. You, my brothers, were called to be free. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 1:1, 13, 18)
- Freedom is not free.
- Freedom is not found in independence.
- Many American Christians live in self-preservation mode, having grown accustomed to comfort, security and material wealth.
- Jonathan (1 Sam 14) understood that God has already promised victory.
- One way to refocus my life and the circumstances of life is to worship.
- One way or another, my focus will determine the outcome of my life.
- Nothing releases the freedom of God in my life as when I pray.
- Prayer often is not so much about changing my circumstances as it is about changing my perspective.
- True freedom is only found in the complete and utter dependence on God.
- “I guarantee you they aren’t arguing about worship styles in Iran while Pastors are being executed”.
- Our victory is sure but it’s not guaranteed.
- Worriers will always find something to worry about.
- Worshipers will always find a reason to praise God.
- A new category is created when we pray. The more we pray, the larger the category that is created.
