Before I jump into this weeks sermon notes from Rock City Church, I just have to talk about what happened yesterday. Rock City and a local elementary school in inner-city Columbus teamed up to host a very special day. Thanks to the contributions and donations given to Rock City, over 250 children received a new pair of shoes. It was a Rock City Party! Over 150 volunteers helped with pancakes, games, face painting, bouncy house, sizing shoes and of course…Santa. It was just awesome. Video to come soon.
This morning was week 3 in the “Home for Christmas” series.
Series: Home for Christmas
Title: Everlasting Father
Scripture: Isaiah 9:6
God’s promise to us is that He will never leave us.
Every one of us will experience a time or season in life where we will doubt the goodness of God – where we will question the presence of God.
We were created by God to bring Glory to God.
God cares more about my character than He does my comfort.
Three things I can learn from the story of Joseph:
- My plan isn’t’ always God’s plan.
- The process may be painful.
- God’s plan always includes His presence.
A few things I wrote down that were said but not in the official “notes”:
We want to believe that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people but there is one problem with that….Jesus.
We waste a lot of our time seeking God’s permission to do something WE want rather than submitting to God for what He wants for us to do.
