To all of my friends that accepted my 30 Days Prayer challenge and participated along with me, I want to personally congratulate you. We made it. This morning we turned the calendar page to October. I can’t even believe that as I type it. It seems like those 30 days flew by. I’m not going to lie, I missed a day or two.

I have to be transparent. In the same breath I would say that I’m disappointed I couldn’t find 2 minutes to read a simple prayer. Yet, I knew if I was just reading it to “power through it”, then my heart wasn’t right and I wasn’t entering into that time as I should. So I prayed, just not using the guide. Confession is good for the soul….

While I didn’t keep up my end of the bargain for 30 straight days, I did have some incredible time with God. There were so many key sentences within that prayer that seemed to arrest me each day when I read it. Here’s a few –

  • I choose a lifestyle of honesty and integrity
  • Show me the truths I so desperately need today.
  • Expose the lies I’m not even aware that I’m believing.
  • Show me where the larger story is unfolding
  • Nothing is coming today that can overcome me because you are with me.
  • As my spirit communes with you throughout the day.

I know I read tweets from a lot of you quoting those same lines. I’d love to hear your experience from the past 30 days. Most of all, I just want to thank you all for your commitment to joining me. I cannot express what it was like to see a community gather in a time when I could sure use it. Thank you. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for carrying the mat.

For those interested, I am going to spend the month of October using the prayer below from Max Lucado. Feel free to join me if you would like.

Lord I come thirsty
I come to drink, to receive
I receive your work on the cross and in your resurrection
My sins are pardoned, and my death is defeated.
I receive your energy.
Empowered by your Holy Spirit,
I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.
I receive your lordship.
I belong to you.
Nothing comes to me that hasn’t passed through you.
And I receive your love.
Nothing can separate me from your love.
