I was bouncing around the web the other day and stumbled across this great list from the CEO of Quicken Loans, FatHead and owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert. Great advice from a very wise (and wealthy) man. 25 Things I’ve Learned by Dan Gilbert #25 Comic Sans… If you don’t like it, then don’t frickin’ read it. #24 Throw a curveball once in a while and your fastball will work WAYYY better. #23 [...]

httpvhd://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45mMioJ5szc Last week I wrote a post called “Especially When They Don’t” detailing a heartbreaking loss for “the boy” in a recent tournament game. I gave the full play-by-play in that post, but the short of it was that he missed the game tying free throw…twice. He was crushed and I was crushed for him. Yet in a strange Karma-meets-sports-meets-God-meets-2nd chances kinda moment, he didn’t have to wait too long [...]
“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.” -Terrance Mann (Field of Dreams)
North Carolina is back in New Jersey for the NCAA Tournament. I’m sure every Tar Heel fan remembers the tragedy that took place last time the Heels were in Jersey and it had nothing to do with what happened on the court. If you’re not familiar, take the next 6 minutes and watch this video. As I watched this video again this morning, I am reminded that my Mom was [...]
As a fan of the Tar Heels, obviously Michael Jordan is one of our most cherished icons. In the Tar Heel museum, there is a typed letter to Michael from dook’s coach that wished him well and said they were sorry he wasn’t going to attend there. They said it was the number one requested item when people come to the museum. MJ has done pretty well for himself over [...]
Yesterday was what my wife called “A day in my heaven”. As you know, “the boy” and I love college basketball. We live in Columbus, Ohio so THE Ohio State Buckeyes are our second favorite team (I’ll give you one guess what our favorite team is). Thanks to my good friend “D-Rich”, we had the opportunity to go to Cleveland yesterday for the Buckeyes game against George Mason. As luck [...]
After two days of wall to wall basketball and 32 teams have ended their season, we can now begin to focus on every game getting that much tougher. So far, the brackets look pretty strong. Clemson, Penn St. Louisville, Xavier and St. Johns all let me down. Otherwise, we’re in pretty good shape entering day 3. Below are some random thoughts from the first two days of the tournament. I [...]
It’s not sour grapes because they lost. It’s not because I think they’re a better team. At the end of the day, if they win or lose, I’m proud to cheer for a team that plays basketball the way it was meant to be played. They use their talent and their athleticism and don’t rely on cheap tactics. Pictures don’t lie and this is just one of many that can [...]
