Day after day, conversation after conversation, I find that although we are all getting older, the questions remains the same. What do I want to be when I grow up? Do we ever really get there? Do we ever really know? Just when we think we know for sure, something changes or looks like it might be the better way to go. We reach the good ol’ fork in the road.
Need examples? Should I take this job or that one? Should I take the promotion that will take me away from my family, or stand firm on what I have as priorities? Would saying no to this opportunity cost me in my current position? Should I follow what I believe is a call to the ministry?
Did you ever take one of those personality profile tests in school? Remember the one with questions like “I would rather – A) go fishing or B)build a missle.” At the end, your score was added up and you were supposed to have the answer to what you should do with the rest of your life. Funny how it didn’t really work out that way.
Well to all of you at the fork in the road, I share two final quotes from the book “Wild at Heart”. When I read these, they really gave me something to think about when considering what I want to be when I grow up (one of these days I will…..I promise).
