“The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised” (Job 1:21).

Time and time again, I am amazed by the strength of people I know that face adversity. As an outsider looking in, I wonder to myself just how they do it. I wonder, if the situation was reversed, would I have the strength to stand strong and be a witness to all those around me?

The new Mercy Me CD (Coming up to Breathe) has a song called “Bring the Rain” that speaks directly to this situation. All of the lyrics are great but the chorus could be an anthem to us all. “Bring me joy, bring me peace. Bring the chance to be free. Bring me anything that brings you glory. And I know there will be days when this life brings me pain, but if that’s what it takes to praise you…Jesus bring the rain!”

What a challenge to get to the point in our walk when we are willing to stand in the face of the unknown and say “Lord, bring the good. Bring the bad. As long as it brings you glory, I am fine with the circumstances”. That is true growth in our spiritual walk. When our prayers change from focusing on our needs to focusing on the Lord’s will, good OR bad. This is a great song. May it be an encouragement to you today.

PS – Jesus…..Bring the Rain!!
