A quick “look-see” at the calendar shows that we only have a few weeks left in 2006. I guess I better start passing out some of my end-o-the year awards. I can say without hesitation that the greatest song in my ipod for ’06 is the song “Bring the Rain” by Mercyme. It’s been prophetic at times. It’s healed, comforted and soothed my greatest fears. On more then one occasion it has even moved me to tears.
“Bring me joy, bring me peace. Bring the chance to be free. Bring me ANYTHING that brings you glory. And I know they’ll be days when this life brings me pain. But if that’s what it takes to praise you, Jesus, bring the rain”.
Wow. Take that filter and drop in your struggle, your joy, decisions you are making and battles you are facing. See if it doesn’t bring a different perspective and remind you why it is all happening in the first place. To move it from “mine” to “His” has changed my life. Bring the rain. Whatever it is, I will give you the glory, the honor and the praise.
If you have not picked up “Coming Up To Breathe” by Mercyme, I recommend it as one of the top 5 albums of the year. Great stuff from some great guys.

Yes, one of my current favorites! How I can relate..
Sometimes the most difficult times are those which bring us closer to our Lord, in desperation for more of His love, his grace, his presence!
Blessings!
beautiful…thanks.
I ran into that song mowing the lawn this year on my iPod Shuffle. I didn’t even know who was singing it. It was an amazing experience. Great song!!
After reading your post, I downloaded it from itunes. That song rocks. Great choice.
thanks for the song. i only got to hear 20 seconds on their site, but it was great.
I love your references to songs! so many times songs have expressed what I can’t and “Bring the Rain” is one of them. A great deal of my growth as a Christian has been through “the rain”–God definitely uses our struggles…
Thanks all! A little follow up –
Faithwalk – Agreed on the difficulties and struggle. While they show us how far we have to go, it also shows our dependence on the one who wants to take us there.
Mudpuppy – my greatest inspirations come while I am cutting the grass. Cracks me up!
Storbakken – Do a search on Google video for Mercyme. You can find it there. It wouldn’t post here for some crazy reason.
Rindy – I am convinced that one of God’s greatest gifts was music. I appreciate the writes that can put what everyone feeling to music and create a song. Great stuff.
