I know the first step to recovery is to admitting it. So I am here today to do just that. Friends and readers I am in love with 3 blondes! Wait, it gets worse. Each and every one of them has blue eyes! To take it one step further….they all live in my home! There, I said it. It’s out there and I can’t take it back. Wow…I feel so much better.

In all honesty, this post deals with the middle one. The first of my little girls has taken up residence in a special little place of my heart. You father’s out there know what I am talking about. It’s that area of your heart that you reserved, but never knew quite what it was for. Well guys, if you’re like me, it’s for those little moments that you can’t script. The one’s that just happen and leave you speechless, breathless and pretty much worthless. Let me give you a quick example.

A couple of weeks ago I was working in my office. Down the hall I heard the pitter patter of little feet and a little voice saying “Datty”. In a few short moments, that little voice was standing right beside where I was seated. Ever so gently, she placed her elbows on the desk, clasped her hands together and placed them under her chin. Then with eyes that would melt steel, she gave me a quick blink or two. To be honest, I think it was a “beta test” to see how I would respond. That’s where the real trouble starts.

My response was probably not the best thing for the future. I quickly handed her my wallet, my car keys, my entire savings account and everything else of value I could find. She just smiled and walked out of the office. So you tell me…how’d I do? Do you think that will come back to haunt me? As a matter of fact, she did it again today. She entered the office, gave me that “look” and promptly took the marker that she’s not allowed to play with. I couldn’t move. It was like kryptonite to Superman. I was frozen right where I was seated. So I guess all of her testing is playing right along with her little plan. She is setting me up for a future time when she wants to go out with friends, get the expensive prom dress, take my car or….or….(gulp) date a boy!!

The good news is I see her working. The bad news is that I am powerless against it! The worst part is that there is an even younger one in our home that looks just like her! I guess I will just have to do what fathers have been doing for centuries. Love her as long as I can and cherish every wink, smile and moment I have with her. In the mean time, I am going to have to work on my ability to be strong in moments of weakness and especially for the 3 blondes in my house!!!
