In his book “The Life You’ve Always Wanted“, John Ortberg outlines a plan for the spiritual discipline of joy. He recommended that if you find yourself down, depressed, or often “joy challenged”, you should surround yourself with people that bring you joy. He even went so far as to say that we should schedule regular appointments in our busy lives with someone that brings us laughter and joy. Not bad advice. I have posted this clip before but to be honest, I wish I knew “Gladys from Austin“. She would be someone I would want to schedule time with in order to bring joy into my day. This clip is great. There’s a quote about half way through that is simply priceless (the 3:57 mark)!
How about you? Who brings you joy?

The headline news on ESPN brings me joy, baby!!!!!!
Duke remained perfect in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Tuesday night. But a 76-60 win at Purdue proved the No. 4 Blue Devils will challenge prohibitive No. 1 Carolina come the ACC … and beyond
Thanks–I needed this reminder today!
Why do you think I read this blog every day? Thanks for you bringing joy and inspiration and encouragement to my day. Your a blessing.
Well I shouldn’t have watched this during the boys’ naptime because I am sitting here laughing so hard hahaha. Speaking of, the boys, they bring me mountains of joy and laughter each day. They’re giggles, their wonder and awe at all of God’s creation, their ability to actually teach ME a thing or two about faith in what cannot be seen….Yup oodles of joy! 🙂
I love your blog, Aaron, always get me thinking! 🙂
You know, I actually had a grandmother that was just like this Gladys. Hilarious and never knew what she’d come out with! I’d call her every day if I still could.
