While it has been sporadic, I have been blogging my way through 1 Corinthians 13, also known as “The Love Chapter”. When we last left the series of blog posts, I was up to the verse that says “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth”. To be honest, I would do this verse no justice. I did find a great post related to it and you can read that one HERE. With that, I am going to jump the next verse which states that:

“It (love) always protects”

FINALLY a verse from the “Love Chapter” that I can say, without question, that I actually do! I’m not sure about the rest of you, but each one of the qualities of love so far have left me feeling like I don’t know what love is at all. But this one….oh baby do I understand this one. I mean that with all humility of course. When it comes to those I love, I will protect them at all costs. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember.

You mess with my family, I get angry

You mess with my friends, I get angry

You mess with anyone that I love and you can bet, you’re gonna see me go Vin Diesel in a hurry.

This post isn’t about me bragging my skills in protecting those I love. What jumped out at me in this one is that if I can be that strong in this aspect of love, why can’t I be that strong in the others? I am challenged that I can have the strength of 100 armies when it comes to protecting love, but what about not being proud, rude, self seeking and easily angered?

It leaves me with a challenge to think about. It leaves me seeking the passion that I have for protecting those I love in all of the other aspects of the Love Chapter…..
