As I have mentioned more times than I can count, “The Boy” and I went to see Thousand Foot Krutch and Hawk Nelson Saturday at SonFest. There were many bands that performed that day but only two that we really couldn’t wait to see. Being an all-day festival, we knew we had plenty of time to get there and find a good spot for the main event later in the evening. With temps in the 50’s and a steady drizzle of rain the entire day, we split our time waiting for the concert between eating indoors, playing video games on my iPhone in the car and sitting under umbrellas listening to Disciple and Fireflight do their sets.

Then it was time for what we came for! After FireFlight finished and people began to clear out near the stage, “the boy” and I made our way to center stage about 15-20 rows deep. We were in prime position for Hawk Nelson. As the time to start the show got closer, the crush of people around us was intense. When they all started jumping up and down as Hawk Nelson played, I knew I had to get “the boy” out of there or he would most likely be crushed. We moved to higher ground and enjoyed the rest of the Hawk Nelson set.

Then the moment we had been waiting for…..THOUSAND FOOT KRUTCH…

It was loud. It was jumping and it was AWESOME.

We stood there singing the songs we know at the top of our lungs.

Big, big thanks to Lori Mahon and Hawk Nelson for the tickets. It was a great, great time. Also a big thanks to my friend Dave Parsons who hooked “the boy” up with an MVNU Baseball t-shirt that he can wear “until he puts the real uniform on one day”. It was good to see old friends throughout the day and spend another day making memories with “the boy”. Can’t wait to do that again..
