Posts have been a little too serious lately. So for some odd reason, I felt compelled to share with all of you not one, but two of my biggest pet peeves. I mean, if you want to really get under my skin, this is it. The book is open and I’m sharing my deepest, most honest moment here. First and probably THE BIGGEST pet peeve to me is this…
Bare feet on the dashboard of my car.
It doesn’t matter whose feet they are, how clean they are, how nice they look, I HATE feet on my dashboard. If you really want to send me over the edge, let the feet touch the windshield. I will most likely pull over right there and drop you off, or I might just push you out of the moving vehicle (not really but you get the idea). Drives. Me. Crazy.
Pet peeve number two also deals with feet. Here’s the scenario. After a long day, I go to my sock drawer and put on a nice, soft, dry, clean pair of socks. As I walk through the house I somehow find a wet spot of carpet from:
A) The girls not drying off after their shower
B) A random ice cube that was left on the floor in the kitchen
C) Wubzzy (this doesn’t happen now that he’s house trained).
Dry, clean socks instantly ruined by some spot left by someone else. Now I have to waste a perfectly good pair of socks and go through the process of getting another pair. The worst is when you go through that and then step on said stealth wet carpet or tile spot AGAIN.
Drives. Me. Crazy.
What makes you crazy?
Man, I am with you, bud. I don’t get the whole “feet on the dashboard” thing. You see almost as many folks with dashboard feet as people texting while driving. Which, I guess, would be a huge peeve of mine. Funny…the first thing that actually came to mind was Walmart. There is almost nothing about that place that doesn’t drive me nuts.
David.
David so good to hear from you! How long has it been? You had me rolling on the WalMart thing. Seriously. I might be guilty of the texting and driving, but I am getting better about it. Could you imagine someone driving in the WalMart parking lot, texting while the person in the passenger seat has their feet on the dash.
Crazy. Be well my friend.
Hahahaha… I love it. So good to know I’m not alone. I can’t stand bare feet up on a dash either. And not just in my own car. I can’t even stand seeing people in OTHER people’s cars with their bare feet up there.
And I’m with you on the whole wet sock thing.
As well as David’s Wal*Mart thing. Ha.
My pet peeves are too numerous to name. Haha.
I forgot to mention that, but others peoples cars is just as bad. It drives me crazy when I look in the rearview mirror and see 10 toes in the windshield behind me. Ugh. Great to hear from you Jessica. How have you been?
I have to go with Wet Sock syndrome for $200. 😉
Totally agree. It drives Austin crazy too. I didn’t know that until he told me that the other day. We think the girls might do it on purpose just to see if they can get us. I really hate it in the winter when the snow melts on the carpet and you’ve got clean dry socks on. GRRR.
I’m so with you regarding feet on the dashboard or even people who put their feet out the window. I seriously don’t know why people do that!
There are so many things that make me crazy, however, I’ll list the first 10.
1. Fingerprints on mirrors or windows. Even when kids breath on the windows and draw smiley faces.
2. Wearing shoes in the house.
3. Dishes in the sink and wet dishtowels.
4. Tangled electrical cords and Christmas lights.
5. Drivers who wave me across while walking through a cross walk, like they are doing me a favour by not running me over.
6. Noisy eaters and / or people who lick their fingers.
7. When ice cream drips out of the bottom of a sugar cone.
8. When someone with a full cart of groceries gets into the 10 items or less line.
9. Hearing someone eating popcorn / chewing ice cubes / chewing gum
10. Email with no subject.
Now THAT is a list! I cracked up at several of them. I’m actually guilty of more than a few of them too. I wear fake Crocs (I call them “frocs”) in the house all day. One of the reasons is so my stocks stay dry….seriously.
The back of my desk where all the cables are would probably send you over the edge. It’s like spaghetti back there.
I often chew my ice when the drink is all gone.
I am a repeat offender of the Email with no subject. Gmail actually gives you a pop up “did you mean to send this with no subject”.
That is great stuff. Thanks for participating. Laughed out loud the whole list!
It’s so hard not to jump in on the fun here. 🙂 Without thinking too hard on this the first big thing that comes to mind is hearing/watching people eat. I can enjoy a meal with other people but if they are loud about it or even when they eat so fast it’s like they are going to starve if they don’t clean their plate in 60 seconds…arg. Makes.me.crazy!! It’s horrible because my loving and amazing husband is a very loud eater as is our oldest son. 🙂 They eat fast and furious, it’s funny sometimes, others…not so much. My youngest and I are on the other end of the spectrum though and take probably too long and are still eating while others are ready for dessert. 🙂
Also in the same category: cracking and/or chewing gum loudly, chewing ice cubes, cracking knuckles or any other joint like backs, necks, toes…..worse than nails on a chalkboard! 🙂
Guilty… Well not eating loudly, but the list at the bottom is pretty much all me. Especially the knuckles. Daughter 1 is a REALLY loud eater. It’s more of a smacking sound then eating. Especially carrots with ranch dressing. Ugh.
Speaking of nails on a chalk board, nail files give me the willies. If I hear anyone using them I get chills from head to toe. Hate those things. Can’t even stand to feel them. Got chills just typing that.
Thanks for joining in the fun.
A funny pet peeve of my hubby’s (because he doesn’t read blogs) is he gets goosebumps hearing people brush their teeth. 🙂 He could NOT help the boys brush theirs when they were learning because it would make him shiver haha.
We humans are a funny bunch!
(And I agree about the nail files…although it doesn’t bother me when I’m filing my own…why is that?)
Yes, it has been a while, but I’ve been keeping up with your blog. I’ve all but abandoned mine. Might get back into blogging again sometime. We’ll see… I miss the interaction, so I’ll try to be more active in YOUR blog. :^) <– smiley peeve.
Love the list of peeves being generated. I'm going to add "your" vs. "you're" and "there" vs. "they're" vs. "their" to the peeve list. And oh, how about people who walk up while you are on the phone and just stand there…staring at you…rudely…waiting…
Later my friend.
David.
I’m guilty of all of those grammatical errors. I think I’m getting better at them in my old age though. So good to hear from you. Thanks for following the ever bouncing ball. Be well!
