The Hype Man.

I spend entirely too much time on reels and tiktok. This week one reel and video was such a powerful reminder that life is all about bringing the juice.

I read so many captions as so many people shared it. Most of them all referred to the energy that this young lady gave to that moment and everyone around her. First, the video.

I don’t know this young lady. I don’t even know her name. I just know her as the “Texas swimmer dancing to Justin Beiber.”

Isn’t that so rich and maybe the point of this post.

That young lady brought the energy. She brought “the juice” to that moment. She did it then and now she is bringing it to everyone that shares, likes, comments and sees it.

We don’t even know her name.

But I bet we want to hang out with her for her energy. Her joy.

I bet if I interviewed her on the Unscripted Podcast, she has a story. We all do. I bet there would be things about her past. Her struggles. Her victories. From a pool lane to her personal life. We all have them.

But she chose joy.

Moments before she got on the blocks and performed whatever time she got, she chose joy. She was in the moment and because of her, so were those around her. She gave them a moment. She brought the joy and “the juice” as I like to call it.

Bringing the joy and “the juice” is a super power. It’s lonely. It’s hard.

Being the person that everyone expects to bring that to the party or conversation comes with great responsibility and sometimes we just don’t have it. I’m just being honest. Sometimes we just can’t bring it.

That’s the thing about this super power. It’s the high and the low. When we see others celebrate, we get the dopamine we need for the next one. When we don’t have it, we feel the weight of not providing it.

To all my hype men and woman out there, know that you are seen. You are felt. You are so important. One day, we will get to have an ultimate hype man for us too.

Keep on dancing.

The world needs us.
