This one has been bothering me ever since yesterday morning. You have probably heard it said that “you might be the only Jesus some people will ever see“. Those words sank deep into my mind yesterday as I sat in Chicago Midway Airport. Our flight was delayed for over an hour so the crowd at the gate was huge. The overhead TV was rolling “Good Morning America”. In between reports on the tropical storm headed for Florida, came the days news. The storm didn’t bother me. GMA didn’t bother me either. What bothered me was the report on a church … Continue reading The Only Jesus???
My wife completed her goal of running the Columbus Marathon yesterday. Her final time was 4:10! The weather was perfect and she completed the race which God called her to run. In case you’re wondering, my arm’s a little sore this morning from holding the camera and my back is stiff from standing, but I think I will pull through 🙂 Congratulations Heather! You ran the race. I love you. Continue reading She Ran the Race
It’s October 19th, in Ohio and 70 degrees outside…in Ohio! Big weekend for the scrapbooking community at our church. The special guest speaker is none other than my sister! I’m not proud of her or anything. Big weekend in our household too. My wife is running in the Columbus Marathon on Sunday. Keep her in your prayers as she completes the race she feels God has called her to run. I’ll be walking a whopping 1/2 mile to catch the beginning, middle and end. With apologies to Justin Timberlake, “I’m Bringin’ Lazy Back”! For you Indians fans out there, there’s … Continue reading Random Friday
You all know that I bleed Carolina Blue. So whenever I see an article, picture or anything related to the Tar Heels, I follow it. I just read a story today that is simply amazing. It’s the story of Jason Ray and it will move you. The story is featured on ESPN.com as well as in the upcoming new TV show called E:60 on ESPN. I have posted the links below so you can read it, print it, or watch the video for yourself. Even if you are a Duke (booooo) fan, you should watch this. It’s a story about … Continue reading Ray of Hope
There is a story about a mother that wanted to teach her small child a lesson about the impact we have on those around us. She took a pot of water and brought it to boil on the stove. When the water was ready, she placed carrots, eggs and coffee beans in the water to boil. In about 20 minutes, she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out into a mug. Turning to her daughter, … Continue reading Carrots, Eggs and Coffee Beans
I need to give credit to my wife for this post. The only reason I downloaded the new Point of Grace CD was for her. They are great, but I don’t usually listen to a lot of their music. After downloading it, I gave it a quick listen. The very first song I played was a song called “Heal the Wound”. I literally said “WOW” as I was listening to it. Let me give you some background. My wife has been training for a marathon now for over a year. She feels that it is something that God has called … Continue reading Heal the Wound, Leave the Scar
I spoke with a dear friend this evening that is facing a storm. Through his journey, others have found strength and seen a faith that inspires believers and those that don’t know Christ. He is a warrior in every sense of the word. But even warriors need a place and a time to rest a bit. When I was growing up, our home had a front porch with a swing on it. It was a place of rest. I had friends in high school that would come over and just hang out on the front porch. More then once, I … Continue reading The Warrior is a Child
A few of the guys from AC180 and I are going to try something starting October 1st. I figured I would extend the offer to this blog as well. The new Max Lucado book “3:16” is both a book about John 3:16 and a 40 day devotional book. The first 150 pages are Max breaking down the words of that verse. The second part is dedicated to 40 days of short devotionals which he calls “40 Days with the Son“. Beginning Monday, October 1st, several of us are going to go through the 40 days together (wherever you may live). … Continue reading 40 Days of Hope
