Long ago, in a college far, far away, I made a decision to earn a BA in Business Administration. It seemed like a good idea at the time. What that wonderful degree has afforded me is a career in sales. While it has been a great run as of late, there are times when the challenges of the position make you question your career path. It’s with that in mind that the song “Lifesong” by Casting Crowns gave me some food for thought. Particularly the line “I want to sign your name to the end of this day, knowing that my heart was true”.

I have the opportunity to meet and talk to several different people, in all walks of life each day. One of my Pastor’s called the opportunity “being light”. But at the end of the day, could I sign the Lord’s name to it? What a challenge to think about before laying your head on the pillow. What did my “lifesong” sing that day? Did it bring glory to the One that gave me the opportunity in the first place? How about you? Could you sign the Lord’s name to the end of this day?
“Lifesong” by Casting Crowns
Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight

May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You

Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign Your name to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You

Lord I give my life
A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet

So may the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Let my lifesong sing to You
