I don’t know why I am ever amazed by God’s timing, but once again I find myself in a situation where I see his fingerprints all over it. The important thing now is deciding exactly where that hand is leading.

Last week I had breakfast with a close friend, whom also happens to be a pastor at our church. Over breakfast we discussed several topics, but one of them was Chapter 11 from the book “Wild at Heart”. I was sharing with him the amazing things it revealed to me about taking risks, following your calling and throwing caution to the wind when it comes to being led to do something. Little did I know about the email that would come later that afternoon.

For those that have not read “Wild at Heart”, John Eldredge tells the story of having an opportunity to go to graduate school, or take a promotion in Washington. It is an incredible chapter about following “what” and not asking God “how”. In the book he states How is faithless question…How is God’s department. He is asking you WHAT.” What would you do if you could do anything? It made for interesting conversation over eggs and bagels that is for sure.

So when I returned home that evening, in my work inbox was a very suprising email. It was an offer to accept a management promotion in Denver, Colorado. I sat there staring at the laptop, not sure how to respond. It was almost like someone was sitting in the booth behind ours and wanted to put my words to a test. Since I don’t believe in coincidence, I knew exactly what was going on.

I will leave you guessing at my response. Those that have read the book know what John Eldredge decided (page 202). Let’s just say that my response was much like his. Remember, “How is God’s department, he is asking you WHAT”.
