What Will The Neighbors Think?

Talk about finding joy in the ordinary… Ya know, some people find inspiration in a beautiful sunset, walking on the beach, fishing, or seeing nature. I seem to get mine cutting the grass! Much of this has to do with the iPod I have firmly planted in my ears while I perform said task. So maybe it’s more about the music and less about the beautification of our plot o’ land. But I digress….

Earlier this week I heard a song by Darrell Evans simply titled “freedom”. The verses come directly from 2 Corinthians 3:17 which states “..where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”. What an appropriate verse for this time in my life. As I have spent the past several months working through the “Wild at Heart” process, there are things it has uncovered that I needed to deal with. Only through the power of the Holy Spirit have I been able to officially cut the chains of bondage that have tied me down. Just as this verse indicates.

So there I was…cutting the grass…dancing around like a freak. It probably looked like a scene from a bad 80’s movie or something. For the first time in a very, very long time, I had a sense of freedom. As the song says “we will dance in your freedom, dance in your liberty”. So I did just that. The neighbors have not talked to me since, but they will come around :). May we all find that freedom this side of heaven…or cut a lot of grass trying!
