hbp.jpgWhile we were at little league practice (first year coach pitch) last night, I hit my son in the shoulder with a pitch. They were taking batting practice and it’s safe to say that I was struggling with the command of the ever changing strike zone. We made a call to the bullpen not long after.

If there was any good news, it was that it was one of the “softer” hardballs (isn’t that an oxymoron?). I had actually taken that one out of play, but somehow it made it back in and happened to be the one that “got away” from me. Rumor has it that the “Juggs Gun” clocked me at around 5 mph. “K-zone” showed that my son was clearly hogging the plate.

After the benches cleared and some tense moments, he stepped back in for some more hacks no worse for the wear. Then again, he might have just been envisioning hitting one back up the middle for revenge. In all seriousness, it wasn’t all that bad. The little girl that took one in the face on a teammates throw from third didn’t fare as well. I think I understand why soccer is so big now….
