I’m calling this segment “2 Cent Reviews” because that’s about what they are worth. However, if you were just dying to know what I thought of some new releases, here you have it. I’ll give a brief thought or two plus my pick for best tracks. So, without further delay…

Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds – “Playlist” – First off, I will never forget the Babyface CD “Tender Lover”, but that’s a whole different post. This is a bunch of cover songs from back in the day. The one that caught my attention and led me to download it was “Please come to Boston“. It would be my pick. There’s a few good remakes on this CD. Some are a bit overdone. I give it a 3 out of 5.

Mark Harris – “Windows and Walls” – If you are a fan of Mark Harris, you’ll like this CD. The can’t miss songs are “Writing on the Wall” and “In a moment or two“. Both deal with time going too fast and the kids. Great songs. 3 out of 5.

Kenny Chesney“Just Who I Am” – I like this CD. If you’re not a fan of his, you will think it sounds like all of the other Kenny Chesney CD’s (which is does). Lyrically, this is very much a country CD. There are some really good songs though. “Demons“, “Don’t Blink”, “Got a little crazy” and “Wife and Kids” are my picks. 4 out of 5.

Mandisa – “True Beauty” – From her run on American Idol to her appearance on Tobymac’s “Portable Sounds” CD, I have always liked Mandisa’s voice. “Only the World” hit the radio in a big way too. So I figured it was worth a listen. Not a bad first CD. It’s not really much my style of music, so I can’t really give it a fair review. The best bet on the CD is a song called “God Speaking”. It’s a song about divine moments, connections and seeing God in the ordinary. Beautiful song. 3 out of 5.

Rascal Flatts – “Still Feels Good” – What can I say? Rascal Flatts is Rascal Flatts. Good CD. Need to listen to it a little more before I can really rank it. I was looking for that one big hit (think “Skin” or “God blessed the broken road”) and didn’t find it. There is one song called “It’s not supposed to go like that” that is pretty close. Otherwise, I might need to get back to you on this one. I’ll give it an incomplete for now. The truth is I rushed my listening to it so I could get to….

David Crowder Band – “Remedy” – Based on some blogging buddies and other blogs I was reading today, I have a feeling everyone is probably typing a review of this CD at the same time that I am. This has been highly anticipated and for good reason. Folks….”it’s all of that and a bag of chips”! Great CD. Worth the wait. Crowder is awesome. 6 out of 5! There is not a bad song on the CD. But if I had to pick my favorite from the bunch….”Remedy“. Go get it TODAY!

To quote Ferris Bueller… “You’re still here? Go on, go get Crowder, it’s over…Go…”
