Like Steve Martin in “The Jerk”, I just went to the mailbox and exclaimed “It’s here! It’s here! The new Toby Mac is here!” Thanks to my friends at EMI CMG and Wired for Sound, I get to share the wealth with 2 lucky people! “The Boy” and I had to arm wrestle to see who got to listen to it first. We compromised. I’m listening to it and he is watching the DVD. That’s right…it came with both! So here’s the contest.
Between Now and Next Friday (June 6 – June 13) I will be accept comments to the following 2 questions:
1. How many times have you seen Toby Mac Live?
2. What is your best Toby Mac story?*
I will determine the 2 top comments and my friends at EMI will ship them a copy of “Alive and Transported” free of charge! Again, I’d like to thank EMI CMG for the opportunity to offer the latest (and rockin’) CD/DVD from Toby Mac. It doesn’t disappoint.
Toby Mac has made the transition from his days with DC Talk to successful solo artist. His sound and ability to adapt to todays music scene make him an artist that will be around for a long, long time. My kids love his music and if you see my driving you will probably catch me “bobbin’ that head” to several songs as well. The song “Lose my Soul” will always hold a special place in my heart.
So let’s hear it….what’s your Toby Mac story?
NO STRINGS…JUST FREE TOBY MAC!
*Your answers can include Toby’s time with DC Talk.
1. I’ve seen Toby and Company no less than 4 times. Once with DC Talk. It’s one of those shows that you can see over and over again and just not get tired of. Besides the great music, the dancing is phenomenal!!
2. The first time I saw a Toby Mac show (not as DC Talk) he was opening up for Third Day. It took until the THIRD SONG for me to finally decide that the 12 year old singing was actually the 40 year old Toby Mac. Seriously. Dude doesn’t age at all.
Wired For Sound rocks. Look for some Jon Foreman on my blog soon! š
I just remembered another time I saw him perform. Make that 5x total.
1. Who is Toby Mac?
2. Who is Toby Mac?
Mud puppy – looking forward to seeing the Jon Foreman
Brain – Once you know…you know…You know?
Okay, I have to admit I have only seen Toby Mac live three times, but my fourth will be in July at Kings Island for Spirit Song. One of the best days our family has ever had was last yearās Spirit Song, we played all day at Kingās Island and then jammed with Toby to cap the night off. Me, my wife, my seven year old boy and two 5 year old girls wonāt be stopping at 4.
One Toby Mac story? Whatās going down? I need a getaway car to come on down to Diverse city or Iāll Catchafire and Burn for You! Hey Now, Wonderin Why you want to stop my Momentum and slam me with the Phenomenon of just one storyā¦. Cause Stories I got emā¦. Trudog, the rules are just one story, so Hush Little Baby and I will Get This Party Startedā¦. Hereās the Triple Skinny; three favorite things about Tobyā¦
1) Some music you like but can only take so much of itā¦. Not Toby, man, I can go with Momentum, Diverse City, Portable Sounds, whatevahhhh! ANYTIME, DAWG!!!!!! (And I am a 37 year old balding Caucasian man)
2) Iām ganna be a daddy whose in the mix⦠Seeing my kids dance around singing songs with such a positive meaning, literally brings me to tears at times!
3) And Iām ganna be a husband who stays legit⦠I recently led a group of men through a course on how to deal with āMen issuesā while living in such a highly sexualized society. The song Loose your soul has become somewhat of an anthem in that regards for me and the group. No more Saul, Now Iām Paul (yep)!
How about JK coming STRONG on the Toby contest! Nice work (even if you are a Dook fan). No doubt on Lose My Soul. It’s a 3 way tie for me on the Portable Sounds CD for best song.
Lose My Soul – for reasons you mentioned and others
Hypeman – Which my kids rock out to
No Signal – Been there….done that.
Welcome to the blog JK. Don’t be a stranger!
Too many good ones to choose from on Portable sounds! I love Diverse City, since my family represents three countries and several skin tones! And yes, we are a freak show.
Aaron, I know.
BTW, it is spelled B R I A N not B R A I N but thanks for the complement.
Hey Aaron,
Very long time, no see. Matt Bays here. JK told me about your website so I’m stopping by (also to see your other one.) Glad life seems good for you. Keep up the good work.
Matt Bays! WOW!!! So good to hear from you. I’ll have to thank JK for the plug. I’m also going to blogroll you. See what you got yourself into š
Actually it’s great to hear from you. Wow. I’m still in a bit of shock. I’ll drop you an email off-line. Thanks for letting me know you dropped in.
I’ve seen Toby Mac 2-3 times—awesome!!
The best story was last summer at “Kingdom Bound” festival, sitting with a few 20-something friends and my kids…I was singing every word to every song and a friend simply stopped, with mouth wide open in awe that “this old lady” would not only know who Toby Mac was, but was jammin to every song!! š They look at me completely different now! š
