Just 2 weeks ago, my wife and I ran the streets of Nashville, Tennessee for the Country Music Half Marathon. We were both first time visitors to this incredible city and it left a mark on our hearts. We instantly fell in love with the music, the culture, the people and the city. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I honestly could see myself living in this incredible city. It is surreal to me that just 2 weeks later, without warning, the city of Nashville has been devastated by flooding. The image above is from downtown Nashville and only provides a snapshot of what has happened all over the city. So this is where we all come in.

While we were in Nashville I received an advance copy of Max Lucado’s next book entitled “Outlive Your Life”. I wish it was under different circumstances which I introduce you to this book, but it is a call to action (much like this post). “Outlive Your Live” is a book that is based on the first 12 chapters of Acts. It is like no other Max Lucado book I have ever read. He is calling on all of us to act, to do, to be, to make a difference. Max is leading the charge by donating all profits from Outlive Your Life to World Vision.

Would you consider helping our friends in Nashville? Would you approach your churches leadership to make a love offering? This is an opportunity that is not “over there” or in some third world country. For updates on relief efforts and a place to make donations, please see the Cross Point Church Website. You can also Text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to give a $10 donation to Nashville recovery.

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. – Acts 4:32
