Moments Like These
Several weeks ago my friends at Team Buzzplant sent me a copy of the soon-to-be released Selah CD “Hope Of The Broken World” to review. I was immediately drawn to the honest lyrics in each song. It felt very much like listening to a modern day Psalms.
Then the song above played.
I am secure enough in who I am to admit that I sat at my desk…weeping. Tears flowed from my eyes and down my cheeks. If you want to see that happen, start talking about how precious our time with our kids is. I had a similar response on Sunday when Justin Davis read THIS LETTER to close out his sermon. I think it’s because I realize our time is so quick. There are no guarantees and I don’t want to miss it. I don’t want my kids to ever doubt how much I love them.
I’d love to sit down with Todd Smith one day and hear even more about his children. I swear the characteristics he lists about his children in this song are the exact same as my children at these ages. Thus the reason I wept (and still get a little choked up each time I hear it). The other thing which impresses me so much about Selah is their unmistakable vocals. When you know a band the minute you hear them sing, it’s something special. Selah can take any song, any lyrics and make them something you want to sit and listen to for hours. Incredibly gifted.
“Hope Of The Broken World” releases on August 23rd. You can Pre-Order the CD now. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is a fan of Selah. The lyrics in each song are so rich and come from events in their lives. It’s not a CD filled with songs they just found and recorded. They are stories from their lives and journey that you will find peace and inspiration in.
I give “Hope Of The World” a 4 out of 5.
