illustration_today_i_am_thankful

I noted the recent trend on facebook to say something that you are thankful for each day in November. I like the idea so I thought I would take it a step further and post them here. Since this blog has been rather quiet lately, that might help keep the dust from settling too. So, here we go.

Day 1 – Thankful that flight from Honduras – Atlanta – Columbus landed safely and brought my much better half back home.

Day 2 – Thankful for better living through medication. I’m not a pill guy, but when you need them you’re glad they work.

Day 3 – Thankful for “the boy” who rode shotgun to his sisters 8 hour swim meet with me. Quality time no matter where we are.

Day 4 – Thankful for technology and the band of brothers and community I share through social media.

Day 5 – Thankful for the B-I-B-L-E. Today it is Lamentations 3:23 – “They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Day 6 – Thankful for silver linings.

Day 7 – Thankful that Princess 1.0 has transitioned from gymnastics to other sports without looking back. She’s doing great!

Day 8 – Thankful for Reverend Billy Graham. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch “My Hope” here – www.watchbillygraham.com

Day 9 – Thankful for Saturdays. A day to spend with family no matter where we are or what we’re doing. Saturdays are best.

Day 10 – Thankful for reliable transportation to get us to the many places we need to go. It’s so easy to take this for granted.

Day 11 – Thankful for our Veterans. Thankful we are free. Thankful for their sacrifice. May this nation always treat you with the honor and respect your so deserve.

Day 12 – Thankful for my bride. If you know her, the reasons are obvious. Thankful for how hard she works and all she does without ever once complaining or asking for applause.

Day 13 – Thankful for employment and working for one of the most generous men I know. His leadership floods our organization. Beyond blessed.

Day 14 – Thankful for the extended service plan on our treadmill. This year alone it’s saved us well over $1000 in repairs.

Day 15 – Thankful for Friday nights by the fireplace with my 4 favorite people in this world.

Day 16 – Thankful for opportunities to keep out little ones active and creating circles of influence (sports, groups, clubs)

Day 17 – Thankful for worship. No matter where. No matter the church. It’s about worship.

Day 18 – Thankful for the grace my kids extend as we navigate our way through life’s decisions and minefields.

Day 19 – Thankful for mentors in my life that have molded, shaped, encouraged and given me wise council.

Day 20 – Thankful that I get to live to fight another day.

Day 21 – Thankful that God is good, all the time.

Day 22 – Thankful that no matter your circumstance, no matter the hand you have been dealt, there are always possibilities.

Day 23 – Thankful that you’re a father forever.

Day 24 – Thankful for “The Little Clinic” at Kroger and healthcare in this country, no matter how messed up our politics are.

Day 25 – Thankful for a week (and maybe month) to hit pause and reflect on all that we are thankful for.

Day 26 – Thankful for a ministry like Compassion International and stories of hope.

Day 27 – Thankful a very close friend, his wife and child walked away from a very scary accident unharmed.

Day 28 – Thankful for all that came out and supported our first annual Free Family Turkey Trot. Great time with friends.

Day 29 – Thankful to get out in the sunshine today and keep the streak of running 20 Miles Per Week alive.
